The musical landscape of the 1960s and 70s was like a giant umbrella covering an enormous variety of events and sounds. What began as thoughtful folk songs soon became the tender ballads and rock classics which inspired and entertained an entire generation.

For many of us, these years were a coming of age. All through school I had studied classical music but quickly bypassed that traditional form and moved to California to seek my fortune with "new music." My thanks to all the great musicians and writers of those turbulent times for giving us so many memorable tunes. They held up a mirror for us to see our lives in, and those reflections are what I have tried to give back to you here.

Many thanks also to the good friends who were such an encouragement and inspiration during those challenging early years. And a special thank you to the one hundred or so people with whom I spent four wonderful years in high school. In many ways this is your album too, and I dedicate it to each and every one of you. To the Class of '67.
